Meet the Staff

 

Director, Lisa Smith

Lisa has been working the Student Services Division for over 20+ years.  She began her educational pursuits at Wallace State where she received her A.S. degree. She then transferred to Athens State College where she received her Bachelor’s in Education. Afterwards, she obtained a M.A. from the University of Alabama. She is currently the Director of Special Populations/Student Resource Center. She tremendously enjoys working with students and helping them reach their full potential.

English Tutoring Coordinator, Natalie Freeman

Natalie received her associate's degree from Snead State Community College before transferring to Jacksonville State University. While at Jacksonville State University, she obtained her bachelor's degree in English, with a minor in political science, as well as a master's degree in English. Before joining Wallace State Community College, Natalie had the opportunity to instruct first-year composition, first-year experience, and academic success skills courses at Jacksonville State University. Natalie's most rewarding aspect of her job involves helping students understand course material and gain confidence in their own abilities to excel in their classes.

Math Tutoring Coordinator, Ian Wisener

Ian began his educational career at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, where he received a B.S. in Accounting. He then continued at UAH earning both a Master's in Business Administration and a Master of Arts degree in Math Education. He then went on to teach middle and high school mathematics for over five years before arriving at Wallace State. Ian really enjoys working one on one with students and seeing them grow and be successful in their endeavors both in and out of college.

Science Tutoring Coordinator, Daniel Young

Daniel began his collegiate career at Wallace State where he received his A.S. in General Studies. He then attended Athens State University where he received his B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. After this, he graduated from Grand Canyon University where he received an M.S. in Chemistry with an emphasis on Education. He enjoys working with students and loves to see the lightbulb moment when the information finally clicks.
