Wallace State Nursing Earns Continuing Accreditation
HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Wallace State Community College’s Department of Nursing Education announces it has earned continuing accreditation from the Board of Commissioners of the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Both the associate degree and practical nursing programs received continuing accreditation through 2033.
“We are extremely proud of the Wallac State Nursing program and its achievement of continuing accreditation through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing,” said Wallace State President Dr. Vicki Karolewics. “Congratulations to faculty, staff and students who played a role in the rigorous accreditation process.”

Wallace State’s Nursing program offers numerous pathways, with a traditional option that offers a practical nursing certificate after three semesters and an associated degree in nursing in five semesters. Classes to complete the practical nursing certificate are offered in day and evening courses on the main campus in Hanceville and at the Oneonta academic center. Hybrid courses are available throughout the program options.
The college also offers joint enrollment opportunities with the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Athens State University, allowing students to concurrently earn an associate degree and a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
The Wallace State Nursing program is also a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education, as designated by the National League for Nursing.
The program admits new students twice a year, with applications accepted March 15-May 15 for fall entry and July 1 to Oct. 1 for spring entry. Applications for Oneonta, Evening, UAB Joint Enrollment and Mobility options are accepted for fall entry, with traditional and Athens State Joint Enrollment accepted for fall and spring.

Registration for the Fall 2025 semester is underway, with classes beginning on Aug. 19 for regular and Mini Term I and Oct. 16 for Mini Term II.
