Men’s Golf Battles Back to Take Second Place in ACCC Region 22 Tournament
Oneonta, AL — Wallace State Community College men’s golf pushed through the final round of play at the Alabama Community College Conference Region 22 championship to take second place in the tournament.
The Lions entered the day in sixth place when they hit the links at Limestone Springs Golf Course.
“The team fought hard through the rain to come back and finish runner-up in the conference after being in sixth place heading into the day,” said Wallace State men’s golf coach Sylas Elliot. “I’m proud of what they accomplished.”
Sophomore Joseph Vinyard of Gardendale finished sixth on the individual leaderboard and earned All-Tournament honors. Vinyard turned in rounds of 72-73-75.
Liam Meaden moved up five places to finish in 12th place for the tournament. The sophomore from Noddingham, England turned in scores of 74-75-74.
Dillan Wade (75-77-73), a freshman from Vestavia Hills, moved up eight places to finish 15th, tying with sophomore Keith Hunter of Ontario, Canada, who moved up 16 places, with a final round of 69 after two rounds of 77 and 79.
The team will next compete at the Southeast District Championship April 22-23 in Union Grove for a chance to compete at the NJCAA National Championship in Hobbs, NM next month.
The team is currently ranked No. 2 in the region and 17th nationally.
